Some time back we got picked to be in this Vans/ Spitfire contest.They gave us some money to build a spot.Only 5 shops got picked.An the other shops are very good,well known shops.So to be involved is pretty cool.Any ways we got the crew together and went to town.Finding a good spot to get away with this was not an easy task.We found one spot that we thought would be perfect.Spent a whole day cleaning it an making plans.Then when we went back to start building we got denied.So back to looking.We then found a spot an went back at it.The people that lived by it seemed cool an was all for it.Then we realized that this one spot was not gonna be enough.So we found another.

As some of you know the 1st spot got demolished after 3 weeks,but spot 2 is still a go.Remember that it is only skateable after 6pm during the week.Keep it clean and lets hope it last.

This contest lit a fire for us and we hope that fire spreads.Lets stop saying there are no spots in Des Moines and lets start making them..

The Annual Big Back To School starts Friday August 5th at 11am -7pm [maybe later] and Saturday 11am-5pm or a little later due to us being at the 515 Alive event.Lots on SALE.Every year we make it worth your time to come to Subsect and back to school shop.Clothes and shoes are tax free,hats are tax free....We are getting tons of new stuff in from Altamont,Emerica,Etnies,Es,Matix,Fourstar,Brixton,and new Spitfire,Thunder,Krooked,etc...TEES.New shoes...The New P-rod comes out Saturday the 6th.

It is one big block party.There is like 3 stages with DJ's.It sound like we will be by the Dub Step stage.The Subsect riders and a few bros will be there skating.As for as we know Sean Malto and Ryan Pearce will be there too.We will have a Etnies tent set up where the dudes will be hanging.Right by the tent there will be some tables for you guys to be able to hangout.We will have some little Etnies stuff to giveaway[Sunglasses and earbuds]I hope to get some posters too.Have the Etnies guys sign some stuff...The skating will NOT be open for everyone to skate.Sorry,but it is an insurance thing.

We are stoked to do this event.The 515 guys are stoked that we are doing it.Come out and show some love.Remember they are donating part of the money back to the Des Moines Skate Park.An really want to keep helping even after 515 Alive.So show support.....

kever's at his wits end with the talent in our company. we've tried to provide a quality skateboarding experience for our team with spots, product, video opportunity, traveling up to that 3rd lair deal, hometown heroes, BUT.....well due to lack of enthusiam, overall production, complacency, and "the pot" our subsect team has been decimated......which leads us to sunny point number two, does ANYONE want to ride for the shop? we'll be having try outs at the eastside park with jerry and leo to help us pick out the new squad.

just because you don't have the best style in town, tyler sloan, doesn't mean you can't get free shoes from etnies and skate in nikes. or who cares if you can't switch heel ethan allen...i mean who can? oh yeah scotty did that a lifetime ago, nevermind. and what can i make fun of chris schnell for i mean he already cut off those horrible, horrible dreads thank you little buddy. then there's the good looking kid who's moving away right after getting on the team, damn you g-puck.

Five years ago the [well in Feb.] Heath,Dan,and Jeff became owners of the good ole' Subsect.An opened up with the Emerica guys coming here.An we all know that they have been back many times since then.Hell,Leo Romero has become family due to the fact he has been back so many times..

Subsect/Vans Gnarbecue Weekend

we like to support the brands that support us.An Vans came through like a champ.When I told our rep that our good friend Al Brown who is in the band Gorilla Biscuits had a shoe coming out on Vans an would like to throw a party he said"cool lets do it".Then Chrissy at Domestica said she was down to help and she is awesome,so bam.She helped us with the free beer for all.An came up with the raffle for the skatepark.Which we made 100$..Ichi showed the love.An then Beachwood showed the love.It is rad having good neighbors who all do cool things
it took us like an hour to pack up each gift bag.I could not get over how much Vans stuff we gave away.So rad of Vans to do this for us.An our Rep Bob for being the stand up dude..

it's almost april already? damn what happened?

i feel like i was just there at the premier but nope, that shit is gone and over and now winter is pretty much over. When i say winter i mean 60 degrees since i live in hollister now, heath's winter is 68 degrees, jeffy's is 35 maybe, and kever's and you guys.....sorry it was so gnarly.

anyway, i was looking through some photos last night and came across these gems. one of subsect's favorite sons, big Ern Torres came on a little motorcycle run with me this summer...bikes, fishing, skating it ruled. when we got back he rewarded me with gifts in a thank you gesture that i will never forget....read his letter it's halarious how the bearings got to me. ernie rips, summer is amazing.... so fuck it, enjoy these photos, think of summer, laugh outloud to yourself, take a roadtrip and it will be here before you know it.

The Slave team is coming to Des Moines for the first time.So be here to join in on the fun.They want to come and hang with you,skate with you,and eat nachos with you.We are taking them to the eastside park to have a skate jam then off to south..This will take place on Nov.3rd at 4pm it starts......The price for the rink is 5$ from 6-9 but if you come in and buy a Slave deck or even a couple tee's we will give you a free rink pass for that night....can't make it in before,that's o.k we will have something special for you at the rink door.....

This is no sit and watch them skate,it is a skate with event....This will be a goodtime,have we let you down yet.....
